I purchased an Amazon Firestick Lite today and connected it to my old projector that had been sitting in a box for the past few years. The projector only has VGA, S-video, and composite video input, but using a $15 VGA-to-HDMI dongle I already had and a $5 HDMI female coupler adapter I purchased from Walmart, I was able to connect the $19 (on sale from Target) Firestick to the projector. I then paired a 3rd generation Amazon Echo Dot to the Firestick using the Home Theater Mode and connected that to my surround sound receiver via the Dot’s auxiliary out port.
The old projector doesn’t have high definition resolution and the lumens don’t produce the brightest picture, but it still creates a decent enough 100” display and being able to continue using this piece of equipment I purchased in the early 2000s can still make for a fun, economical family movie night.
